North Imenti Parliamentary hopeful Wakili Ken Muriuki has accused Hon. Rahim Dawood and Carol Muriuki of spreading false information concerning his bid for the North Imenti seat in the August polls.
Speaking to a vernacular TV Station on Sunday afternoon, Ken Wakili linked the duo to rumors that he had opted to withdraw from the race and instead seek to be the next Speaker of the County Assembly of Meru.
“The only political seat I am eyeing is that of MP North Imenti and nobody should think otherwise. It is hilarious how some of my opponents are already developing cold feet this early in campaigns, prompting them to go around claiming I am interested in the Speaker position,” says Ken Wakili.
The three contenders for the seat are seeking the newly refurbished Devolution Empowerment Party (Mbus) ticket in efforts to clinch the North Imenti parliamentary seat. The party is led by Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi.
Speaking at an event in Mwiteria, Carol Karimi Muriuki said she will be ready to head to the nominations against Hon. Rahim, Ken Wakili and other contenders for the Mbus ticket.
“I appreciate that the said opponents acknowledge my ability and capability to hold the designation of the speaker of the county assembly, however that is not my cup of tea for now. We should all sell our prospective values to the people of North Imenti and leave it up to them to decide instead of hiring people to spread false rumors on my account.” says Ken Wakili.
Both Carol Muriuki and Ken Wakili have accused Hon. Rahim of failing to lobby for funds and projects for the people, leaving the constituency to excessively depend on the CDF kitty.
“My people cannot keep depending merely on CDF, they need a brilliant legislator to lobby for more resources, and I shall deliver delightfully,” says Wakili Ken.
Hon Rahim however insists that the North Imenti people will re-elect him based on his excellent performance in the last 10 years, the political party notwithstanding.
“I have equally distributed the CDF kitty to all needy students. This year alone I am issuing Ksh 35 million in bursaries. I advocated for the Eastern and Western bypass among other major developments,” says Hon Dawood.
