The Deputy President may have had a successful series of meetings in Meru County this weekend, but some bitter truths cannot go unmentioned.
Long gone are the days when we were hoodwinked with fresh promises in efforts to help us forget about earlier pledges made by the same individuals.
It’s unfortunate that the residents of Athiru Ruujine and Akirang’ondu wards in Igembe central have been fooled yet again.
Those that care will recall that during the 2017 campaigns, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Samoei Ruto promised the construction of Muringene-KK-Athiru-Stage Kwa Njilu Road.
They also promised Igembe residents that they would tarmac the Kipkona- Murera-Meru National park road.
We are in 2021, a few months to the end of their last term in government, and nothing has happened on the ground. Absolutely nothing.
Until today when something happened.
While gracing the Hon Kiringo football tournament at Athiru Ruujine today, DP Ruto promised residents the same roads he promised in 2017.
Flanked by the same Meru leaders as was in 2017, Ruto wants Igembe residents to believe that a third term in government is what is needed to fulfill these old promises.
Linturi, Kiringo, Mwirigi, and the other Igembe leaders must be equally ashamed of themselves.
