Gideon Kimathi
The Meru County Chief of Staff has made clear his intentions to contest for the South Imenti MP seat in the 2022 general elections on the Devolution Empowerment Party (popularly known as MBUS Party).
Having come a distant fourth in the 2017 contest, Kimathi will be hoping to capitalize on his engagements with residents as a key pillar in the Kiraitu Murungi Administration to wield more support.
Kimathi says he will seek to leverage on his diplomatic abilities to lobby for more development projects to South Imenti.
He has promised to ensure the contested additional Sub Counties in South Imenti are gazetted within 2 weeks, if elected as the next MP.
MC Jessy
The popular comedian is the latest entrant to the South Imenti MP race as the 2022 general elections approach.
Though previously inclined to the refurbished Devolution Empowerment party (DEP) aka Mbus, MC Jessy has now opted to join Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
According to the comedian, his decision to join UDA was informed by his engagements with the South Imenti people.
Kathuri Murungi

Kathuri opted for an Independent ticket in the 2017 polls, a move he says was orchestrated by his competitors’ plan to rig him out of the Jubilee nominations. He won against the Jubilee candidate by a margin of close to 7,000 votes.
A close ally of DP Ruto and Meru Senator Mithika Linturi, Kamashinani will be contesting on a UDA Party ticket in the 2022 general elections.
