“In my own opinion, the Madoadoa remarks made in Eldoret were a well-choreographed sentiment and what is happening now is fighting the ‘messenger’ while the message already got home to the intended targets.
In my own view, targets are two.
One, those who were supposed to feel intimidated and toe the line of the native setup, from where the message originated.
Two, the native grassroots soldiers who are supposed to pick up the message, from their leaders and are expected to execute the ‘orders’ of the message.
In this view, the government through its Judicial and Security Administration is dealing with a messenger whose message is already home and dry.
Reflections would indicate that it is about time for the government to plan and act decisively in going after the message, trace how far it has reached, assess the damage caused if any, and institute mitigation measures that in part would prevent nefarious aftermaths if it came to that. This is part of what Early Warning Systems is about.
Finally, the apology issued by the on Monday, came shortly after the whole nation’s outcry is so suspicious as if it were a genuine one.
The careless and stupid remarks were made in the presence of the DP who did not condemn the message and admonish the messenger right on the spot at the said rally in Eldoret. The apology ought to have come immediately after “madoadoa speech” spewed the unfortunate remarks, at the Eldoret meeting.
While everyone is quick to ask for God’s guidance in our pathways as we head towards the General Elections – Election preparations and campaigns don’t need God to be civil, respective, tolerant, and useful avenues to advance cohesion among communities and national unity.
The quality of politics practiced in any society – makes or breaks it…just look up details from history around the African continent or the wider world.
