Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi has swiftly responded to recent claims suggesting an emerging rift between him and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The claims emerged through a viral social media post, alleging that Aburi had cautioned Gachagua against interfering with Meru affairs. However, Hon. Aburi has denied any dispute with the Deputy President.
In an interview with local media outlets, Gachagua openly criticized Aburi’s campaign to split Meru into two counties, referring to it as sheer stupidity.
According to Gachagua, the call to have a new County called Nyambene are not honest, since the number of counties is already anchored in the constitution.
These comments fueled speculations about a potential conflict between the two political figures.
Nevertheless, MP Mpuru Aburi has today dismissed the claims, blaming Governor Kawira Mwangaza as the source of the fake post.
In a statement shared on his Social Media Page, Mpuru firmly stated that the interview has not caused any rift between him and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
“I wish to pronounce myself on this propaganda that is circulating on social media and which has been created by Governor Kawira Mwangaza. This is the lowest a leader in the capacity of a governor can go,” Aburi states in his response.
He has urged Governor Mwangaza and her team to provide the source of their information and substantiate their claims.
The MP has further expressed his disappointment at Governor Mwangaza’s alleged dissemination of false information, accusing her of pursuing a selfish political agenda.
“If I have anything to say, I know how to express myself clearly. Therefore, this propaganda should be treated with the contempt it deserves,” he says.
Speaking during the Friday night interview, DP Gachagua called on all elected leaders in Meru County to unite for the benefit of the electorate.
Gachagua warned that the current squabbles pitting the Governor, MCAs and MPs against each other is dangerous to their political careers.
“If you do not unite to serve wananchi, they could as well decide to send you home together, in a single morning.” Gachagua said.
