Imenti North MP Rahim Dawood has disputed claims that his multimillion properties adjacent to Kenya Methodist University (KEMU) are built on riparian land.
Speaking during an interview with a local TV Station, the Jubilee legislator said that the said properties were established in adherence to all the legal procedures, and that any dispute should be channeled to the relevant authorities.
“A reconnaissance survey was carried out in January 2019 with key informants from the county and the local communities, The committee consisted of among others the Ward Administrator, Area Chief and Assistant Chiefs, MCAs and Urban Development Officials,” says Hon. Dawood.
Rahim further says that the properties are set up with all the necessary precautions not to pollute water resources, as opposed to adjacent properties that pose a threat to the nearby water catchment areas.
AZIMIO OR UDA?
According to Hon Rahim, the Political Parties Amendment Bill (2021) is a step in the right direction in ensuring free and fair Party primaries and more transparent sharing of resources among political parties.
“I voted in favor of the bill. I am still a member of the Jubilee Party. Many parties including Chama cha Kazi, UDA and Devolution Empowerment Party (DEP) have been courting me to join them. But I am still engaging the North Imenti people before making the final decision,” Rahim says.
Rahim says he will throw his weight behind the Azimio brigade if Agriculture CS Peter Munya is nominated as Raila Odinga’s running mate.
“If we will get an offer for a Deputy President from Meru, I will be in full support. I am not sure if the Mt Kenya West leaders will cede ground. But I think we should first unite behind one of our own from Mt Kenya East,” says Hon Rahim Dawood.
DEPUTY GOVERNOR
According to Hon Rahim, speculations about him being one of the top contenders’ running mate in the August polls are far fetched and a ploy by his competitors to mislead the North Imenti voters.
“The North Imenti people will re-elect me based on my performance in the last 10 years. I have equally distributed the CDF kitty to all needy students. This year alone I am issuing Ksh 35 million in bursaries. I advocated for the Eastern and Western bypass among other major developments,” he says.
The legislator also disputed claims that he has neglected the lower sides of the constituency – namely Nyaki East and Nyaki West wards.
“The new tarmac passes through Kiburine, through Miomponi. We have issued more than Ksh 3 Million in bursaries to each of the schools in the said wards like Mbuta, Mbirikene, Giaki, Kathirune, Karirwara and several others. I have brought several transformers to areas like Mukundu, Gankere and many more,” says Hon. Dawood.
