The FKF North Imenti League enters the Quarter Finals stage this Sunday with 4 heated matches expected to be played.
Ngiine Football Club will be battling it out with Gachanka FC, while Giaki FC will play Njukinjiru FC. Meru Police plays Galaxy FC as RCC battles it out with Azizia FC.
The second leg of the Quarter Finals will be played in a week’s time, where the winners will proceed to the Semi-FInals, also to be played in two legs on 7th and 14th November.
The league is sponsored by North Imenti aspiring MP Ken Muriuki Wakili in efforts to identify and nurture youthful talents in the constituency.
According to Wakili Ken, the youth empowerment program has not only been influential in nurturing the youth but also bringing unity to the community through the Kandanda Mashinani tournaments.
“The animated energy I have observed in these matches after my undying supportive gestures is enough proof that given opportunity and the right thrust our youths can surely turn the economy around,” says Ken Wakili.
The winning team in the competition will take away Ksh 100,000, with the second and third runners up pocketing Ksh 75,000 and Ksh 50,000 respectively. The rest of the teams will be rewarded with Ksh 5,000 each plus other performance awards.
The top scorer, the best young player, best goal-keeper and the best referee in the competition will each take away Ksh 5,000.
The initiative has seen several football clubs in the constituency benefit from sports kits, training and facilitation for various sporting events.
“It is amazing how the support and genuine motivation I give these teams, through my humble donations, goes a long way to bring out the best out of these young talents,” says Ken Wakili.
