List of Elected and Nominated MCAs in Meru County – 2022

Following the August 9 2022 general election, a total of 69 MCAs were elected and nominated on various parties, among them United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Devolution Empowerment Party (DEP), Party of National Unity (PNU) and Jubilee among other parties.

NORTH IMENTI CONSTITUENCY MCAs

1. MUNICIPALITY WARD – Caleb Mutethia Kibuko (UDA). A first time youthful MCA who also contested for the position Meru County Assembly Deputy Speaker. Caleb won the seat with 6147 votes on a United Democratic Alliance ticket, having edged his closest competitor Joel Mutuma Buuria (Mbus Party) who garnered 3143 votes.

2. NYAKI EAST – Josphat Kinyua Muuna (PNU): He unsuccessfully contested for the same seat in 2017 and lost to Robert Kithinji. He is the only MCA in North Imenti elected on an Azimio affiliate Party (PNU). Kinyua won the seat with 3130 votes, while his closest competitor George Mwirigi of UDA garnered 2120 votes.

3. NYAKI WEST – Fredrick Mubichi (UDA): The 2022 ward elections in Nyaki West were postponed due to ballot anomalies on August 9. In the mini-poll held on August 30, Fredrick Mubichi won by 2,026 votes against Lewis Kithinji of DEP (Bus) who garnered 1,976 votes. Hillary Mugambi Sandi, an Independent candidate,  came in third with 1,968 votes while Joseph Mworia, also an Independent candidate garnered 1,944 votes.

4. NTIMA EAST – Daniel Mikwa (IND): He won the hotly contested seat with 2,579 votes. His closest rivals Joshua Mauru and Japhet Thuranira managed 1,844 votes and 1,599 votes respectively.

5. NTIMA WEST- Patrick Kathurima Ntururu (DP): Having opted for a Kenya Kwanza affiliate Party, Kathurima overwhelmingly won the Ntima West seat with 5,451 votes, while his closest rival Paul Bagine garnered 2,758 votes,
