Popular comedian and TV host MC Jessy now says he has the energy, ideas and a rich network that will enable him deliver exemplary results as the next South Imenti MP after the 2022 polls.
Speaking to a local Radio station this morning, MC Jessy said given a chance, he would outdo all the South Imenti MPs to date, including Kiraitu Murungi and the current MP Kathuri Murungi.
MC Jessy is the latest entrant into the always crowded 2022 South Imenti race, which has attracted among others Meru County Chief of Staff Gideon Kimathi among other candidates.
Jessy says that he plans to establish a South Imenti Development Council composed of members from ever ward in the constituency.
“The six members of the Development Council will be required to establish a sub council at the Ward level from where we will receive the needs of the people. This will greatly help us work on projects that are a necessity to the people,” says MC Jessy.
On how he intends to defeat the South Imenti history where the incumbents always have their way, Jessy says he has the energy and strategies that will ensure he represents South Imenti residents in Parliament.
“I understand that Kathuri Murungi captured the seat because Kiraitu Murungi went for the Senator and later the Governor’s seat. But who knows? Hon. Kathuri Murungi may also be on his way to another seat in Meru County, maybe Governor or Senator,” he says.
According to the popular comedian, the youthful population in Meru needs to vote for young leaders with a vision and energy to deliver in the political sphere.
“My experience in the talents industry is unmatched. We have done it elsewhere and in Meru County, long before I declared my interest in the MP seat. I mentored the likes of Jasper Murume, Itchy the Comedian, MC Laing’o, Nassizu Murume and several others,” he revealed.
MC Jessy also revealed that he was the brains behind the popular Meru Talent Search, having orchestrated the blueprint for the entire process.
On allegations that he has no touch with the ground and the local people, MC Jessy says he has assisted several South Imenti residents pursue their education as well as taking care of several orphans through his Jessy Foundation for more than 7 years now.
“As the new South Imenti MP, I will link up with several other international foundations such as the Clinton Foundation, Melinda and Gates Foundation and the Mastercard Foundation, where my friend Julie Gichuru is the Corporate Communications Director. These will help me ensure access to more resources apart from CDF to help the needy access quality education,” says MC Jessy.
Jessy also says he has a rich network abroad, especially in England where he will source for good direct markets for tea and coffee from South Imenti and the larger Meru County.
On the Political Party he intends to use in his quest to unseat the current MP Kathuri Murungi, MC Jessy says he is yet to declare his 2022 vehicle, and that a Party is not very important in deciding the South Imenti leadership.
“There are several Political Parties available. I was also invited at the launch of Kiraitu Murungi’s new Devolution Empowerment Party alias ‘Mbus’ and I will be present. But when that time comes, I will get one Party for my 2022 bid,” he says.
