A few days after Governor Kiraitu Murungi and CS Peter Munya vowed to unite behind ODM Leader Raila Odinga in the 2022 polls, Meru Women Representative Kawira Mwangaza has dropped a bombshell.
The self-declared ‘Peoples Governor’ says she will be making a major announcement soon concerning her preferred political party in preparation for the general election.
According to Mwangaza, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), a party associated with DP Ruto is top among her available options for 2022.

In a Facebook post shared on her verified Page this morning, she however says she needs a little more time to unveil her 2022 political vehicle.
“Bishops, Pastors, friends ,relatives and colleagues concerned about my political party or position, I sincerely appreciate your concerns and can’t take it for granted. Just give me sometime to pray about it for God’s Divine Direction,” she says.
Her declaration comes in the midst of major political events in the County, among them the unveiling of Kiraitu Murungi’s new Devolution Empowerment Party (‘Mbus’), and the ongoing restructuring of the ruling Jubilee Party.
The Party of National Unity (PNU) has also struck an agreement with ODM ahead of the 2022 general elections, in efforts to secure a place for Agriculture CS Peter Munya in the would-be Raila administration.
According to Munya, the Meru interests of unity, rapid economic development and social welfare are best catered for in a Raila presidency.
Kawira Mwangaza however seems to be pursuing a totally different path, insisting that her options are limited to UDA, OKA or an Independent ticket.
“Whether it’s UDA, Independent, OKA, etc. We shall be in the Ballot 2022 for Gubernatorial Position,” reads part of her statement this afternoon.

Pundits argue that with the recent decision by Kiraitu and Munya to support Raila Odinga, a UDA ticket for Kawira Mwangaza against the two would give her a big advantage in the gubernatorial race.
Just a few days ago, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru hinted at jumping ship and joining UDA, saying the Party resonates well with a majority of Central Kenya voters and is the most popular movement among the youthful majority.
