Meru Women Rep Bishop Kawira Mwangaza has opted to take a break from her Okolea functions and seek what she calls ‘Revelation’ concerning her political future.
This comes a day after philanthropic legislator was barred from donating school uniforms to pupils at Kirogine Primary, a move she condemned as political witch-hunt from her rivals.
Her sentiments were echoed by South Imenti MP Kathuri Murungi, who termed the disruption of Mwangaza’s activities unfortunate.
“It was not right to stop the Meru County MP/Women Rep Hon. Kawira Mwangaza from supporting orphans and special class pupils at Kirogine Pry School in South Imenti Constituency. The MP was distributing school uniform to these needy kids when the Headteacher was advised to stop the exercise. Unfortunately, these needy children did not benefit,” Mr. Murungi said.
However, a section of Meru residents believe that Bishop Mwangaza’s daily visits to schools are nothing but cheap political stunts that should be stopped.
“I don’t think issuing school uniforms is one of the responsibilities of a County Woman Member of Parliament. And if it has to be done, why not send the uniforms to the school for the management to distribute in the absence of the politicians? Why line up pupils in front of Baite TV cameras and thereafter air the coverage for several days repeatedly?” says Mr. Nicholas Kithinji.
In Kawira’s defense, Kathuri promised to accompany Bishop Mwangaza to the school to ensure that the needy pupils benefit.’
“Sorry for this Mheshimiwa, kindly let us go back there with the uniforms at your convenience,” said Kathuri Murungi.
Always referring to herself as the Peoples Governor, Bishop Mwangaza is a fierce critic of Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi and has vowed to unseat him in the 2022 polls.
