Meru Woman Representative Kawira Mwangaza is the most preferred gubernatorial candidate in Meru ahead of the August general election.
A survey done by Mizani Africa shows that 42.6% per cent of Meru voters prefer the Kawira their next Governor ahead of her political rival and the incumbent, Governor Kiraitu Murungi.
The survey shows that Kiraitu is trailing behind Kawira who has intensified her campaigns across the county with 33.2 per cent, a 9 per cent difference between them.
Though Mwangaza is ahead,, the survey shows that a massive 24.2% of the Meru voters remain undecided, mainly attributed to the exit of Agriculture CS Peter Munya from the gubernatorial race.
The research also places the Kenya Kwanza Alliance as the most popular political outfit in Meru, with approval ratings of 53.7%, followed by Azimio la Umoja at 37.2%. The One Kenya Alliance comes third at 6.7%.
William Ruto maintains the lead as the most preferred Presidential candidate in Meru at 54.5%, with ODM leader Raila Odinga ranked second at 38.2%.
The poll also reveals that Meru Senator Mithika Linturi remains the most preferred Senatorial candidate in Meru at 33.5%, closely followed by Joseph Kaberia at 30.6%, and Media personality Captain Goddie at 23.6%.
In Tharaka Nithi County, Governor Muthomi Njuki is the most preferred candidate with approval ratings of 43.9%, with former Chuka University Vice Chancellor Prof. Njoka coming a distant second at 25.0%. Senator Kithure Kindiki was ranked third at 19.6%.
