On Wednesday morning, several MPs from Meru County held a meeting at an undisclosed location in Nairobi.
Those present include John Paul Mwirigi (Igembe South), Kubai Kiringo (Igembe Central), Abdul Rahim Dawood (North Imenti), Kathuri Murungi (Imenti South), Gichunge Kabeabea (Tigania East), John Mutunga (Tigania West) and Meru Senator Mithika Linturi.
North Imenti MP Hon. Abdul Rahim Dawood has however disputed claims that today’s session was a UDA meeting, saying he will publicly declare his political vehicle for the August polls at the appropriate time.
According to Hon. Kathuri Murungi, the Parliamentary Group meeting was held to discuss the political direction for the Meru people as the August 9 general election draws closer.
Hon. Rahim has in recent days hit headlines, with several political formations wooing him to join their camps ahead of the August 9 polls.
The legislator recently accused the Jubilee leadership of plotting to rig him out of the race and offering a direct ticket to Beatrice Karwitha, formerly allied to Raila Odinga’s ODM.
