Aspiring North Imenti MP Carol Muriuki has rolled out a robust program dubbed the North Imenti Incubate Program that seeks to ensure 100% transition for students to institutions of higher learning.
“Education, a key pillar in my incubate programme is at the peak of my North Imenti transformative agenda. All deserving students must be supported and given a chance to achieve to the highest of their dreams and aspirations,” says Hon. Carol Muriuki.
Speaking at Karirwara Primary School where she was invited to support the management’s efforts geared towards a facelift, Hon. Carol decried the poor state of most learning institutions in the constituency, characterized by low enrollment levels and poor infrastructure.
“This school was started in 1971 but 50 years down the line, it has a poor enrollment and a negative growth. We need an educated generation to power a National Agenda. In my quest! Nobody is and will be left out,” she said.
At the initial stages of the Incubate Program, the aspiring legislator in collaboration with other stakeholders spearheaded the sponsoring of 96 deserving students to Samburu Technical to pursue different courses of their dreams.
“Education remains one of my key issues in the North Imenti Transformative agenda. I will ensure that all deserving students receive adequate support to achieve to the highest of their dreams and aspirations,” she says.
According to Hon Carol Muriuki, the end result of the program is a permanent change to the constituents, enduring for several centuries, hence spurring economic growth in North Imenti.
“We need an educated generation to power the local and National Agenda. In my quest, nobody is and will be left out,” she says.
Transition from primary to secondary and tertiary institutions remains a challenge in Kenya, with most young adults missing out on chances to pursue their dreams due to financial challenges.
In 2021, only four counties attained a 100 per cent transition from primary to secondary school. These were Nyeri, Nyamira, Bomet and Mandera, followed by Nyandarua, Kisii and Wajir at 99 per cent. Homa Bay, Kirinyaga, Migori and Kiambu counties are at 95 per cent.
