Popular political strategist Edwin Kiongozi has set tongues wagging with a pricey car, just a few weeks after joining Kawira Mwangaza’s camp.
Kiongozi was seen flaunting the multimillion ride on social media on the back of the August general election.
A key supporter of ‘Gavana ni Mama’, Kiongozi was previously a prominent figure in former Governor Kiraitu Murungi’s administration.
A few weeks after the elections, Kiongozi erected a multimillion mansion, with neighbours speculating that he must have made a kill during the campaigns.
According to a source close to the political strategist, neighbors and close friends are upbeat about Kiongozi’s sudden change of fortunes.
“We know he supplies a lot of milk and other farm produce. But this can only be a product of the just concluded campaigns.” says a close friend speaking on condition of anonymity.
According to Kiongozi, his decision to support Kawira Mwangaza’s administration is based on a burning desire to ensure Meru residents enjoy the fruits of devolution.
“Unless someone is a witch, it’s appropriate that everyone supports and prays for the government of the day. Kawira Mwangaza’s success can only translate to a better Meru for us all.” says Mr. Edwin.
On the much disputed Ward Fund, Kiongozi says the Meru MCAs are only motivated by selfish needs.
“I would challenge anyone to show me any single Ward Fund project in both the Munya and Kiraitu regimes. The Ward Fund is nothing but a scheme to loot public resources.” He says.
