Deputy President William Ruto was today treated to a warm reception in Meru as he interacted with residents during and after a Church service.
Accompanied by Meru Senator Mithika Linturi and several Meru MPs, Ruto urged the Meru people to support his 2022 Presidential bid, saying his proposed bottom-up economic model would benefit every Kenyan.
Ruto attended a thanksgiving service at the A.I.P.C.A St. Lorent Angaine Church in Buuri constituency accompanied by the area MP Mugambi Rindikiri, Igembe Central MP Kubai Iringo, Tigania West MP John Mutunga, Moses Kirima of Imenti Central and several MCAs.
After the Church event in Timau, the Deputy President addressed Meru residents in Makutano – Meru.
Ruto was also the Chief Guest at the Kinoru Primary School grounds, North Imenti during an ordination service for Rev. Canon David Muuro Nkaabu as the third Bishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya, Diocese of Meru.
According to the local leaders present, the Meru people will fully support DP Ruto’s candidacy and the United Democratic Alliance political outfit.
In a scathing attack directed to Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi over his recent meeting with ODM Leader Raila Odinga at Serena Hotel, Linturi said the Meru people will not be auctioned in hotel meetings.
“We want to send a message to those loitering in hotel meetings in Nairobi. The Meru people are wise enough to make their own political decisions. We will not be pushed to support Raila Odinga,” said Linturi.
