Meru Senator Mithika Linturi has urged Agriculture CS Peter Munya to desist from engaging in political battles that are beyond his scope and ability.
Linturi was responding to Munya’s persistent attacks directed at DP Ruto, severally referring to him as a dictator, a lover of violence and a looter of public resources.
However, Senator Linturi says that the Azimio camp is full of persons of questionable character, citing Raila’s involvement in the 1982 coup, his swearing in after the 2017 General Election, and several corruption scandals where Azimio leaders have been grossly mentioned.
“We will not be coerced into supporting the Azimio conmanship. And I would like to urge Mr. Munya not to engage in fights that are far beyond his weight.” says Senator Linturi.
According to Linturi, CS Munya was only lucky to have been appointed as Cabinet Secretary after losing to Kiraitu Murungi in the 2017 gubernatorial contest.
“I want to remind Munya that were it not for the appointment by Jubilee in 2018, he would have been jobless, just like he will be jobless after resigning before the 9th of February this year.” says Senator Linturi.
Munya intensely castigated UDA’s bottom-up economic model at the ASK Gitoro Showground, saying young Kenyans deserve better than Wheelbarrows and Mikokoteni.
“William Ruto was a student of Moi’s school of politics, where he learnt a lot of ‘conmanship’. He was part of the group that forced people to vote for President Moi. Now he has come with a similar plot called Kazi ni Kazi,” Munya said at Gitoro.
Munya took his time explaining why DP Ruto is unsuitable to hold any public office, accusing him of sabotaging President Uhuru Kenyatta from within government.
Also present at the Gitoro meeting was Imenti South MP Kathuri Murungi, a close associate of DP Ruto. Kathuri took to social media this morning, distancing himself from Munya’s remarks.
According to Hon. Kathuri, CS Munya’s sentiments are nothing but cheap propaganda, and that a wheelbarrow is a known tool that symbolizes hard work.
“UDA’s Party symbol is a wheelbarrow, ODM has an orange while PNU has a burning torch. All these are just symbols. Who said that the UDA manifesto is to give wheelbarrows to Kenyans? How many burning torches has Munya distributed to us so far? Hizo ni propaganda tu.” says Hon Murungi.
Asked whether Governor Kiraitu Murungi and his new Devolution Empowerment Party (DEP) will be officially joining the Azimio la Umoja Coalition, Munya says he is not concerned about Mbus affairs.
“I warned him against folding the original Mbus. At his own time, he will explain to you about the new Mbus. I am here to talk about Azimio la Umoja,” says Mr. Munya.
