Development Agenda
Her challenges in life have fueled a passion for helping the needy where she hopes to see a community that is well developed with opportunities distributed equally among its members.
Her vision as she seeks the Women Rep position for Meru county is to see a society that promotes inclusiveness in development and welfare.
Delfina says that her motivation to vie and the issues/agenda that her campaign will focus on include education for all, poverty eradication and affordable, quality health care.
1. Health
Meru county is in dire need for health solutions due to existing slums and the increasing number of street families in towns and poor rural folk.
These people have poor health seeking behaviors and are not able to meet hospital bills when they become critical or require medical attention.
If elected as the Meru Women Representative, Delfina will lobby for a law to waiver bills for the needy. She will also work with stakeholders like NGOs, the business people, the county and national government.
2. Poverty Eradication
Meru county has two divides – the wealthy and the poor, with the gap growing by the day. As Women Representative, Delfina has vowed to help alleviate poverty.
She believes her Brook of Healing Centre is a perfect model of how appropriate training for youth in talent search and vocational training can secure meaningful employment for thousands of jobless Meru residents.
Part of her agenda is to also lobby for the youth and women enterprise to get more affordable loans as well as lobby for inclusion of men in empowerment programs so as to support strong family structure.
3. Education
Currently, there are large numbers of school going children who are stuck at home for different reasons including the lack of fees or meals.
If elected, Delfina Gaitenga has promised to introduce feeding programs in schools to ensure there is a higher retention of pupils in schools.
She will also lobby for budgets to initiate food programs to the public schools in the slum areas.
